My husband and I live in Portland, Oregon with our two children, Kate and Jameson. We had a hospital birth with our daughter in 2006 and a waterbirth at home with our son in 2009. These two unique births have transformed me as a woman and mother, reaffirming my passion for birth and helping other women on their birth journeys. I am certified in the biodynamic model of childbirth through Birthingway College of Midwifery since 2007 and as a full-circle doula through the International Center for Traditional Childbearing since 2008. I am also a volunteer for Nursing Mothers Counsel of Oregon and waterbirth certified through Legacy hospital to better assist moms who desire a waterbirth. I love to read, knit, crochet, watch movies and spend time with family and friends. But most importantly, I love helping mothers achieve a healthy and happy birth experience.

My name is Aminah Jones. I attended doula training at the International Center for Traditional Childbearing (ICTC), in Portland, OR 2006. I aspire to be a midwife, taking a holistic approach. As a doula I help pregnant mothers learn different positioning techniques, tea/herbs, and ointments that help promote a natural healthy pregnancy. Every pregnancy is unique and should be treated as such. I advocate and support the mothers, by supporting her birth plan. It's our duty as doulas to  help educate mothers from conception, to birth & beyond ultimately to facilitate them in bringing forth & nourishing healthy off-spring. Every woman should have a doula whether married or single. A healthy family comes in many sizes, and promoting healthy families is key. Look forward to getting to know you.
