Welcome to Original Birth

Original Birth doula services are grounded in the biodynamic model of childbirth developed by Birthingway College of Midwifery in Portland, OR. This model incorporates philosophies from many other methods such as Bradley, Birthing From Within, Hypnobirth and Lamaze but always keeps the focus on the fact that childbirth is a natural and necessary part of human life and keeping the focus on the mother.    

As a doula, I have the privilege of being invited by families to share in this intimate time so that they can be fully present at their birth and have the support that they need in order to let the birth process unfold naturally. I help parents educate and empower themselves to make decisions based on fact and not on fear and to create a safe space where mothers and their partners can focus on each other and connect and grow stronger as a couple. 

Together, parents can explore their hopes and fears surrounding the upcoming birth so that they are able to embrace and experience it with confidence and joy. A mother's body is able to accomplish such a seemingly impossible task and yet leave her feeling more capable than she's ever felt before.

During pregnancy, you are faced with many options surrounding your birth. One of them is the question of having an OB or hiring a midwife to attend your birth.
